Dr. Lisa Ekman and Andy

Dr. Lisa Ekman is a 2004 graduate of the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to joining the staff of the Monroe Veterinary Clinic, she worked as a relief veterinarian for several veterinary practices in the Northeast Georgia Area. When asked why she chose veterinary medicine as a career she said, ”I chose this career because of my love and compassion for animals. I've loved them for as long as I can remember and couldn't imagine a career that did not include helping them. I really enjoy my job because I am always learning something new and like the challenge of problem solving. I like being able to make a difference in the lives of animals by easing their suffering or preventing disease. I particularly like working with animal behavior issues, dermatology and surgery.” She enjoys photography, gardening and spending time with her family. She and her husband live in Athens with their daughter, two cats and a dog. She is a member of GVMA and AVMA.
